  • La Grande Boucle

    Starts Saturday.
    Excited??? I am.
Maybe a bit over optimistic, but I reckon there will be a Brit on the podium this year and a jersey winner.
    What say you?

It's quite a few years since I sat and watched it on T.V, but I can admire the riders...I could get out of breath just watching them , it's definitely not a sport for the unfit.
Here's a link Bob if anyone would wish to follow it.

I got stuck behind two of the lycra-clad brigade last night, on the way home.

I mean, the road was clear and there was no traffic, I just couldn't bring myself to overtake those thighs!

I love the tour. The first year mr T dragged me along I wasn't too keen, had images of a whoosh of lycra and going home feeling rather underwhelmed. But, it was great. The cavalcade of 'publicite' was hysterical. All the sponsors drive past before the cyclists lobbing freebies at spectators - key rings, t shirts, hats, bags, washing powder, coffee, torches even sausages. All this at the same speed as the riders..... (duck when the evian cars come past). Most of the cars also have scantily clad girlies gyrating to overly loud muzac while harnessed to stop them falling out. This year they pass about 1/2 hour from us. It will be a milestone for me, it will be my first week feeling human again after all of the chemo has finished.

          Can't wait.

Come On Stuey!!!!! (no , I don't care that he's unlikely to win a stage - he's just a fantastic team member and a true sportsman)

Yeah, me too - glad to hear that chemo is nearly over woohoo
Love it - they passed close by us at Lapeyrouse a couple of years ago. I was on video camera duty but I was so excited that I couldn't hold it straight and all I got were a load of Lycra clad fuzzy blurs. Hey-ho.

Glad to hear things are going well Tootles, what better than a French maillot jaune wearer to cheer both you and your adopted countrymen up.
Great ride by Chavanel today, but I was a bit surprised at the no sprint at the finish. Cancarella isnt French so cant accuse them of yet another sporting strike.

OH absolutely loves it. That's why I'm relegated to the backroom to watch Only Connect with Victoria Coren.

                        These blokes ...... awesome!!
I would struggle going up the Col du Tourmalet in a car, and these lot go up on a push bike.
Would love to see Schlek stick it all over Contador today, after his disgraceful attack the other day, not likely though more's the pity.

I don't think Contador intended to actually be first over the line today. He looked like he was pushing Schlek along, but had definitely 'sat up' just before the line... that's not to take anything away from Schlek's victory, he rode like a trooper!!
