lmao ...... you need to hide the bin for a week, and tell them the bin men have them .... then when you give them back, tell them, if they don't keep them tidy ....... next time you'll give them to the bin men for real ...... when i did that with mine, his bedroom didn't have a thing out of place for months

hahahahaha, did this so many times, I had to eventually let some of it REALLY be taken by the bin-men The threat works a treat now

Did you see a few years ago, a bloke auctioning the Entire Contents of his son's bedroom? That's a good threat now they're older!

My daughter was really good about getting rid of bags of plastic rubbish. On the promise it would be replaced with more, upgraded plastic rubbish.

Every year I have a pre-birthday clear out in Lauren's room. If anything has bits broken or missing, its gone. Out of the decent stuff, she has to go through it and tell me what she wants to keep or freecycle I'm lucky that she's pretty ruthless about getting rid (I never was!) and also that she is less into toys now, and my dad has finally listened to me! He would always buy her a pile of stuff, she would play with it once then forget about it No more!!

EDIT: Right on Tam!! I have to do this to 17yo stepson. I say do room, he say no, I say, ok chum, I'll do it, but none of your crap will be coming back. I go down plot, come back, room is done.

he he, i had to be far more brutal, the boys had the big bedroom, and I got so fed up with the mess, they went to school one morning and came home to find the beds moved into my room, two computer desks, and their clothes, everything else was locked into what was now 'my room' and they never got it back.

amazing how tidy they keep their new room now , and because its smaller, the mess shows up quicker
