  • John Wayne fans???

    Hi all

In March 2011 Marisa Wayne, John Wayne's younger daughter, is coming to the UK to compete in the Macmillan 4x4 Challenge with my OH (a weekend of endurance, mileage - off and on road - and seriously tough navigation).

All money raised in sponsorship will go to the charity - Macmillan Cancer Support. Next year will be the challenge's 10th anniversary and the charity's 100th.

Those old enough to remember will know that John Wayne died from cancer (when Marisa was only 13) and she is fully aware of the work that is done over here by Macmillan. In the US the family run the Wayne Foundation which raises money for cancer research and lots of money gets raised for investment into cancer charities as well as the research side.

I am looking forward to Marisa coming to stay for a couple of weeks and I hope they do manage to help raise the profile of this event - over £500k was raised in its first 8 years with more than £100k raised this year.

I hope you can help towards our target...... as te**o says.... "Every Little Helps".

    Thanks
    Hayley

Thanks Florence, I was/am a very big fan of John Wayne, even wanted to marry him (when I grow up) when I was a kid, not sure whether to disclose that to Marisa though she's almost the same age as me...
