Joe Swif makes a bit of good telly, he makes you feel that you know more than him and can do better, then you go out and do it. ! This week in GW I did like the clip from Geoff Hamilton.
My plot is on this site!

I don't have a problem with him to be honest, he openly admits he's a first timer. Would we give a newbie lottie such stick, probably yes if they made a tv series out of it.

My problem with him is the fact that he doesn't seem to want to listen to anyone. Anybody who thinks they know everything about growing stuff is setting themselves up for a fall in my book.

Sure, we all get well-meaning but unwanted advice but my way of dealing with it is to say "I'll bear that in mind, thanks.", not start whinging to everyone that'll listen (quite a lot if I was on telly) that it's my allotment and I'll do what I want!

I still think Joe Swift is the only GW presenter that makes the show worth watching. His programme about garden grabbing was the best GW episode I've seen (and it wasn't really about hands on gardening!). True, his triangular beds are a bit too odd, but then again, every now and then we all do things that other people do not agree with or understand. I think Carol Klein sections about 'helping' that family are a bit forced up in there just to make time, and make no contribution whatsoever, and her constant enthusiasm is a bit ott for me (or maybe she needs a thesaurus, everything to her is 'wonderful').

I don't mind the triangles, or much else now he is on the allotment. I did mind the lack of waiting list and the quick shot to shot filming of the allotment section; but they seem to have dropped that this last week. Or the calling Monty up to find out what to do with onion sets...he is an experienced gardener and I just don't like that way of doing things - pretending to be dim.

I think the other allotmenteers taking the **** out of him was quite funny; as long as he takes it all in his stride.

Actually, that reminds me I must sow my sunflowers for the HW competition - as I haven't done them yet.

I think he is feigning the 'dimness' a bit but he is more of a garden designer than actual gardener & has said he's never really grown his own fruit & veg. properly before. I bet he has someone trawling the internet for him looking for mentions of his allotment so that he can respond to peoples comments!
