  • Its always BF in the garden

Everywhere I've looked for the past few days its about "Black Friday" (BF). Emails, the news, computer, junk mail, wherever they can squeeze in a mention of BF they're doing so. There'll be people squabbling in stores, snapping up things they don't want or need because they're reduced, even spending money they don't have - they are the BFs in my view.

Its made me think about all the Special offers in the Shop at the end of the garden. For the price of a few packets of seeds I can pick enough vegetables to dine on all year round - or a bouquet of flowers - or a bowl of fruit.

For even more of a bargain, if I let a plant go to seed, I can swap those seeds in one of the Seed Circles or the VSP on the Vine - that's a 100% discount.

Or take some cuttings and grow extra plants to fill the garden, swap or bring pleasure into someone else's life.

It may be cold and wet in the garden today but I'd rather be there than being elbowed aside in a packed store. Where's the fun in that?

Looking out the window it is definitely Black Friday here. I do struggle to understand why people go quite so mad about black friday or how it actually lasts days for some companies.

It might just be me (I avoid physically going in to most shops where possible), but January sales and blue cross sales really don't seem to get pushed anymore.

I can't complain though cos I get a discount on the bee stuff I have been putting off ordering, but least I can do it from the comfort of my chair.

Love your garden shopping. Things with history, meaning etc still win over shop bought stuff (especially nowadays when so much seems to lack quality)

I decided to make it 'buy nothing day'!

However....we needed to buy a replacement lock for our car door today...and that just happened to be in a BF offer!

It does look like we have encourage others to spendthough.......we have a guy about to arrive to buy our ancient Landrover!

Apart from that, I wholeheartedly agree....some of the best things in life really are free....some may need a bit of nurturing though!

Agree VC. The thought of shopping today is one of my many ideas of he11 !
I too have been to my garden shop for tonights tea. No crowds, no pushing and shoving. Although the cabbage did put up a bit of a fight
If I'm really honest I do have 4 other tabs open on my iPad. All seed companies 3 of which have BF sales.
But I don't feel I'm buying into the whole BF thing because it's allegedly for ******mas shopping. All the seeds are for me me me me .

Everyone this year will be gets home made or plastic free and Palm oil free ( as much as possible anyway )

I did go into town today, mainly to change my library books at last! and was really surprised how few people were out and about, so I sailed through my shopping without endless queues
I suppose a lot of people shop online nowadays.

I also got some Xmassy things, like candles, cards and wrapping paper, as the shops were so empty.

I Hate BF, because on the back of that we have to run what we call a "Super Sunday" to ensure all that order gets their gear!

Was supposed to be my Saturday off, but have ordered 70 hot bacon sandwiches for the team as a thank You and need picking up at 6am

I Will get a weekend off one day!

Black Friday is such an awful name. I don't even understand the concept.

Well, I’m going to suggest that our little charity shop has a red Monday sale sometime soon.
