  • I must have impressed the Garden Society

So, it was 7.30 yesterday evening, and I was trying to finish painting the landing at the new house, before we went back home to the old house. My OH had been getting everything together that we needed to take back with us, and in his special little way () he'd stacked everything infront of the front door.

    Knock, knock, knock....

'Could you get that please honey?'...no reply...put down all my painty stuff, and stomp downstairs grumbling. Turn off radio. Move half a ton of 'stuff' to open front door a crack...and who should be on my doorstep?

None other than Lucy, Chairman of our Garden Society - what an honour!!

She handed me a piece of paper, said that the AGM is on Tuesday (17th), and they'd rather like it if I joined the committee!!!!! Whhhoooooo Hoooooo!!!!

    I'm so happy!!!!!!!

Congratulations - the post didn't go the direction I thought it would, I'd be horrified to receive such a request so was expecting it to go to a how do I get out of this without offending anybody but no such problem so all good!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thank you!!! I'm positively bouncing off the walls!!!! And come next year, once the house is finished, I'll have loads of time to help out with everything.

LOL Alison - for me its definately a good thing - no excuses required. I love organising things and being involved.

Well done, and glad you're so thrilled though I have to say my own reaction would be similar to Alison's! I love helping out and like to do as much as I can, but I'd a bit panic-stricken if it got 'official' if you know what I mean...

Anyway, are you going on the Christmas party planning committee then?

WTG is how I believe the "youf" put it these days. Well done you - credit where credit is due I say.

So does this mean you've finally been "committed"?

I'm obviously too old to be 'down' with that 'street talk', what is WTG when its at home??

And I believe I shall be officially committed on Tuesday - men in white coats and everything

I'm still in dire need of a big Gin, and probably a huge piece of choccy cake, what do you think?

Well done you! I can see why they asked; someone clever and sensible and above all a top bird.

When I was asked to join the village show committee I was told by someone on here that it must be a rubbish job or someone else more suitable would have been asked.

Luckily the actual experience was better than expected; I am waiting for 3 other newbies to show at the next meeting and then we can make some alternative suggestions for next year's show.

We don't have a committee for the allotments, but I am pushing for one so 2010 may be the year we get it off the ground.

Oh blimey Becki, I hope me saying I'd be panic-stricken didn't come across wrongly! I'm really chuffed for you, you'll thrive in the role, I was just (pointlessly) highlighting the fact that I'M hopeless and would be rubbish at being on a committee!

                              WTG!
