  • I must eat more apples...

I must eat more apples.....I must eat more apples.....

    Exactly that!!
I've got loads of apples in storage- some now going soft, and some bruising up can't stand the idea of them going to waste...next thing will be having to freeze them,
How is your store going on?

Cider? or similar. If they are cookers perhaps they could be bottled?

We eaten the last of ours, still got some frozen slices and sauce in the freezer though.

Nicos have you thought about getting a dehydrator.

I make wine, cakes and jam with mine. Still got plenty in the garage individually wrapped in newspaper. But even then a fair percentage have gone brown.

I checked ours a couple of weeks ago and found a few had gone rotten and many of the others were starting to shrivel and look less appetising. Had (or more acurately my mother had) a blitz on cooking and freezing, keeping a few fresh for pies, the last of which was baked yesterday.
                    Today's mistake is tomorrow's compost...

Think this is the way to go for me to be honest
Certainly don't look nice enough to give away in their uncooked state!

I have eaters which are ready in August. They don't store well. despite making over a million letres of cider (I exaggerate lol) and eating loads, and giving loads away... I peel chop, and lightley cook, til just starting to go soft. Then bag up for the freezer. Makes great crumbles and tonight when I was too lazy to make crumble the children had stewed apples and custard! No sugar requited
Still got loads left which should last another month or so.

I made apple sauce, strudel, pies, cakes, put some out for the birds through the winter. None left now.
