  • I may have to cancel Christmas

Took the day off yesterday to do some Christmas shopping and put up the decorations.

Went to Tesco and they didn't have any pickled walnuts!

Got home and went on line to see if it was just that store or all of them, no not listed!!

Boy child went to Costco and they didn't have any!!!

    I'm panicking a bit now.

I haven't heard on the news that there was a massive walnut crop failure, no reports of aliens taking them away.

    Where are my Pickled Walnuts?

I cannot have Christmas without them, it just wouldn't be natural.

    HELP!!!!!!
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Loads of walnuts this year- maybe you need to try Waitrose or somewhere like that?

Don't panic- plenty of time yet!

Black and soft, they are pickled before the shells 'set' and are lovely but not to everyone's taste I must add!
yummy with cold cuts and a jacket potato ;-)

How can you tell if the shell has set without breaking it open?
Might have to make some of these next season.

If you have to 'break' the shell, then it's set

I've just come back from Waitrose and picked up a pot of pickled walnuts for Snowdrop as he adores them, but he won't be kissing me!

So do you remove the green husk before pickling? I'd assumed that was the part you pickle.

Never heard of pickled walnuts? Do you eat them as a snack or in something?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've probably got a jar of pickled walnuts at the back of the cupboard from last year. I'll find it when I buy another jar this year because you just have to have them.
