  • i have a problem

i can't get motivated to join in with the early planting, mostly cos it's too much effort to go get a bag of compost ....... still haven't pulled up last years plants or spread my home made compost, or actually done anything in preparation ....... just have no interest in it yet

and everyones starting to talk about gardening again

Don't worry about it; play with the chicks and when it warms up you'll get back into it.

There'll still be time when the weather's warmer. It's just us lot being impatient Besides, in a few weeks time you'll be able to take your babies into the front garden to help you do the digging!

I was going to sort through my seed box this afternoon, but then realised I'd need a third hand to get the box from the porch to the table (everyone was out), so gave up and went back to sulking on the sofa...

I have no intention of growing anything from seed as yet!
I prefer to buy small plants in trays and then grow on- I'm dreadful with seedlings and manage to over water/under water/damp off so many that it's cheaper to buy ready grown!!! ( and of course they'll be ready earlier than my 5th attempt successful ones)

I'm looking forward to looking round the markets here to see what they have, and of course I shall grow some plants from seed where it's hard to find the variety ready germinated.
Have to admit I'm a fair weather gardener just to get started, but once stuck in , it's hard to drag me away...I'm happy with a plastic bag on me head to keep the rain off....and will garden till I drop for some foolhardy reason!

So Lynda- plenty of time yet- you just need a bit more sunshine and warmth to get yourself going!

Go for it you'll really enjoy it! Garlic cloves planted in the first weeks of December have started to sprout and that spurred me on to plant onion seeds last night. Days are getting lighter and spring is just around the corner.....

see now i still have loads of onions, swede, carrots, parsnip, turnips, leeks and romanesco growing, and they are all still small ....... maybe its just cos they haven't done anything for a couple of months and it's miffed me ...... or it's just too flipping cold ...... but i know they are gonna start growing again soon maybe that will be the poke i need

i haven't got anywhere i can buy seedlings from, and i'd feel like i cheated lol ..... mind you my next door neighbours car is fixed now, so i will be able to borrow it to go get some stuff when i get the motivation.
