  • I have a little secret or two.........

OK many on here know that we have been foster parents to very elderly or end of life Labs for the last few years.
After the beautiful Freaky died in my arms a few months ago I said 'no more' as I have a plateful to deal with and thought no dog would make it easier.
Cue a few weeks later....................off to the Doc's and would you belive crying at the end of his desk. Take these tabs he says. Took 2 and very seriously ill.
OK that is not going to work so what makes me happy? Being 30 years younger? Winning the lottery? Having boobies that don't flap around my kness?
    No thinks I - a dog.

Dogs, with the meds, poop, foilbles etc thats what.
I had a look on the Lincolnshire Rescue Kennels sites just out of interest of couse. We (as in me) decided another mutt was needed.
A younger one between the ages of 6-8 that was not going to you know what too soon.
Sotted a Staffie sitting on a bench calling to me.
Of to the kennels (piggin ell the cab fare there and back was expensive).

Goes to see Odin and then I made THE mistake. I told Jo, the lovely lady who looks after all these unwanteds that we had experience of very oldies and end of life.
Bad, bad decision on my part.
Oh she said we have a mother and daughter Staffie in for the last year (thats terrible). Elderly owner in hospital and the passed away so NOBODY wants them because they are a pair.

She, with the best of intentions lied.

So, please say hello to Mags.

About time too, Lumpy. Wondered how long it would take you

Having 2 is great, especially when they're related and used to each other.

Welcome to the Vine, Mags and Plops.

Plop is very deaf and Mags is generally just scared.
But you know what? As I have thinned out the garden so we won’t be growing any veg next year they whether they know it or not have made it easier.
        Bless them for it.
p.s can I still be a Grape if all I have left is one blackcurrant, 4 raspberries and a rhubarb?

Lumpy, of course you're a Grape, an elephant shaped grape.

I'm convinced there are some on here who haven't grown anything in their life and are only here for the chat.

I don’t recall anything in the terms and conditions which specified a minimum amount of produce. So, 3 different kinds of fruit should be plenty!

You lot really are such lovely people.
Plops is snoring like a warthog after her tea and steroid (crippling arthritis) and antibiotics (evil teeth).

I still have one butternut - Butterbush which is growing like a triffid, some carrots and half of my toms.

                        Awww they're lovely

Sadly I had to let my old boy go last week due to cancer. His younger companion, the crazy rotty is missing him. And so am I
The vet told me that there's no way he was only ten years old. I've had him for six years, and was told he was four by the rescue centre. The vets think that he was actually 16. He did well, the old man

Lumpy you have a heart of gold, its the one thing that I miss, having a dog, though I do have my son's and daughters to walk and look after, one of them is sleeping over my feet right now
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Once a Grape, always a Grape. And you, Lumpy, are a very good Grape. Those dogs are lucky as lucky can be to have you looking after them now.

They look gorgeous. They're bound to settle in soon and feel more confident and happy. In fact, Mrs Windy is looking very comfy already. They will give you lots of pleasure and companionship.

Best wishes for a bright and woofy time of it.

Isn't it time your son's and daughters had beds, rary?.

Sarriss - so sorry. Sounds like you gave him a great life though.
