  • Haunted Electric Blanket!

Well not exactly Haunted but read on.....

On certain random occaisions when we have the electric blanket plugged in (not nessessarilly switch on) I get an odd vibrating senesation if the OH touches me!

It's not like an electric shock, more a buzzing sensation that increases in intensity as we get closer but stops if we touch !

    It's quite 'other worldly'.

Anyone else experienced this or can suggest why it happens?

    No vibrator jokes please!

    very very mild electric shock?
I'm terrified of electric blanket ever since I was sick all over mine in my bed as a child - I thought I was gonna fry myself.

I couldn't have an electric blanket - hot water bottles only here. Freaks me out - just the thought of them.

Sounds like it is not earthed properly. How long have you had it?

Should be a law against them. Thick socks and a hottie. Much safer.

Sadly I am of an age when I'm more likely to be shoving the duvet off due to 'Power Surges' than needing an electric blanket. Sounds wierd though.

Wasn't there some study about the effect of electric blankets on the energy field around your body?

                          Just found-

Scientists at many institutions, including the Food and Drug Administration, are studying the extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields emanating from electrical devices, because of claims about possible effects on the body.

I think you best get rid, it sounds very unwell, my grandma had a nasty burn from her electric blanket, so i relie on socks and a snuggly hot water bottle instead if i am cold, oh and warming my cold feet on Mr Miffy as he is always toasty and warm!!

                              Hmm It's a new EB !
Odd thing is that it doesn't happen when I put my hand near the OH !
Maybe I'm picking up alien transmissions ?

I'm always getting static shocks. Had an eventful trip to Las Vegas where I got thrown out of a casino for continually screeeming! Vegas is the Static Capital of the world !

Contrary to what everybody says about EBs, I'm hot water bottle phobic as my nanna got baddly burned by one. The fact that it was an earthware one years ago makes no difference !
