  • Got the Council Tax man coming tomorrow.....

Coming to check up on me I think!

Claiming a 50% reduction because the house I've bought is not furnished, I am not living in it and it is undergoing major refubishment!

Luckily I pulled an interior wall down two days ago and there's a skip on the front lawn.........so that should impress him!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

No, offer him half a cup of tea, outside, unheated, in a dirty mug.
I'm sure he would get the message...and then just to be nice you can produce a nice hot thermos.

A Thermos would be good because you don't want him to think you've got any comforts in your house yet.

I think it all boiled down to the way the house was built in the thirties. There are no stud walls and every wall is brick. I intend bracing and knocking out four of these which entails a lot of dust, noise and crossed fingers.
Apparently if these had been stud partition walls they may have deemed the house could still be done whilst living in it.
All the bricks I am taking out will be cleaned and reused in an extension, garden wall and if there's any left, in paths!

Blimey Snadger I'd have thought you had to take the roof off to get free council tax!
                          Good luck with the renovations.
