  • GM animal feed.

Has anyone else picked up on the fact that all major stores are now going to allow the sale of chicken that have been fed on GM foodstuffs?

    Bladdy liberty in my opinion.

Yep. Thank God I keep my own. Any chicken is from organic farm and their chooks eat off the land so am hoping they aren't GM feeding. Will be asking.
They really don't care what they shove down our throats do they?

T@sco have said that only their organic poultry is guaranteed GM food free (if I remember correctly)
          Here's the Co-op's statement - sorry Sarz

I can see why others keep meat birds. Just wish I was brave enough but I'm not. I can see me returning to my MIM days.

Out of interest our local butcher and farm shop sells organic cheaper than the supermarkets. How much are two organic chicken breasts at Tesco? Anyone know?

Our butcher doesn't do organic chicken, just free range.

To be fair until relatively recent times chicken was a very expensive meat.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You don't have to keep meat birds VVG as there are dual purpose breeds. Good old Road Island Reds and Light Sussex are two breeds that are good for meat but also lay about 250-300 eggs a year!

We had Marans Snadger. Are those dual purpose? Mind you I think the kids would kill me before I got the chance to get the farmer in.
