    Getting 2 home composters!!!!!

    Sorry, guinea pigs
    DD fell in love with guinea pigs when we went to the local animal sanctuary, and we have been looking into making a hutch for her, but OH wasn't so keen, so was taking his time
    Well today there was someone offering a hutch and a run on freecycle, so I mentioned it to him, and he agreed I could request it.
    I did, and it has been offered to me
    I'll collect it tomorrow, then DD can clean it up, OH can check it is in good order, then I can phone the guinea pig rescue centre at the weekend, and see if we can rehome a couple.
    So excited!!!

    Hope your new residents settle in OK - exciting for your daughter to get the hutch ready and bring the guinea pigs home.

        You can get hutch cleaner so make sure you give it arealy good clean and allow it to dry before you get the guinea pigs. We have had them in the past and they are wonderful for children as once you have caught them they are lovely to handle. We made a run big enough for daughter to sit in with them it made it so much easier for her.

          Two of my "home composters" are named Eric and Wayne. We lost Bernard in the autumn - he was very old - at least six.
          The more recent additions to the composting elite are two Continental Giant Rabbits called Albert and Arthur (R for Rabbit - Geddit?) - and BOY can they produce the goods!!! I have six compost bins on the go and I don't think that this will be enough - especially when the grass starts growing!
          Good luck with the Guins. Don't forget they need their vitamin "C"!

            Oooh, I love Guinea Pigs, but we always seem to end up with a rabbit. Still Gandalf (our new rabbit) has doubled in size since we got him and is now in desperate need of a new hutch........we were told he was 'almost fully grown'. Wrong! It will leave me a spare hutch though...hmm....
            Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

              Think its sad that society still finds it acceptable to cage animals so we can be amused by there frustrated antics. No i do not approve of caging living beings

                All of my home composters have ready access to extensive runs and only go back into their prisons (often without encouragement) at night. You are quite right that animals should not be kept caged 24/7. Lighten up a little.

                        They are lovely, and she is thrilled with them!!!
                        they are munching their way through all my veg scraps though, so my dalek will no doubt suffer. Have put a request out to friends, neighbours and family for veg scraps, what the guinea pigs don't need, the dalek can have
