  • Gas Problem.

Got home from work yesterday and the gas meter had broken. It took us an hour to figure that out as we initially thought it was a problem with the central heating. We phoned and they sent a chap out within 20 minutes; "to check for leaks", but he wasn't able to fix the meter, I had to phone my gas supplier. We waited another six hours for the meter to be mended and when it was it was the same chap who had been earlier. He hadn't been 'allowed' to do it the first time as it wasn't an emergency. Wonder how much cheaper our bills would be if they didn't have these stupid policies. And it's not as if it was a time thing, the whole repair took less than a minute, which was far less than the time he spent explaining why he couldn't do it the first time. No wonder I spend half my life baffled.

Common sense was killed off in this country some years back, Unfortunately the people who could help never notice (but perhaps they just don't value common sense anyway).

      I'd have punched him!

(Well, not really, but this kind of 'jobsworth' attitude drives me mental .)

yes, but he probably gets paid by the call out, so he will have been paid for the emergency check, then paid again for fixing it, if he'd only been once he's only get paid once, and he's probably on time and a half for saturdays
