My OH bought me some fence posts for my birthday back in January. They have sat in the back garden waiting for him to put them in. Too wet ,too frosty etc.
I found out how much it would be to hire something during the week thinking he would do it this weekend. He had to have tyres done on the car and by the time he got back he annouced that it was too late to do it now ( 10.30 am ) we will do it next weekend, no I said we are at your mums on sunday and the following weekend its mothers day, I thought great why buy them if you cant put them in. Next minute he has changed and is telling me to phone the hire place to say we will be in soon.
So we spent a few hours at the lottie with a petrol driven post digger thing and put my posts in yay. It was hard work for him but not as hard as it would have been if he had hired a post driver. All posts now in. Back tomorrow to fix the fence to the posts. Just got to get him to lay the paving slabs, Make new gates, and get wood for paths and lay them.

Isn't it lovely when things get done! Hope you're remembering to take before and after pics, I always fail miserably and then kick myself afterwards.

Had to smile - I thought to myself how only on here would people not bat an eyelid that you'd had fence posts for your birthday, LOL - we can just share your pleasure.

      Hope the hand's feeling okay?
Life is brief and very fragile, do that which makes you happy.

The hand-operated post hole borer is a better bet, can be under £15.

Takes a bit longer and have to be careful to remove every 8 or so turns as it takes a lot of effort to pull two foot of soil crumb out of the hole, it tends to be tamped into a plug stopping the auger from coming out.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

We hired it for the weekend and it was £23 it was so quick the hardest bit was getting it going lol like petrol mower. We had 9 posts to add to the ones that were already there but too far apart and the fence was sagging.
If you imagine a drill bit that was what it looked like. Also made two more holes and covered with paving slabs till we can get two more posts.

Would love to see Lynda66 with this lol

No I forgot to take pics but I have some anyway of before so will take some tomorrow when we go to fix the fence. We are also going to get some wood to top the fence with, plot next door has it and it helps to keep the fence up.
