What's your favourite (Medieval) siege weapon? Mine is the trebuchet so I won't be allowing that. I'm looking fondly at ballistas at the moment but don't let that influence you...

Don't vote trebuchet cos I'd have to properly engineer it this time round. I'm more 'proof of concept' type of fella.

I'm having trouble Balders working out what an Asiatic Wild Ass (Onanger) had to do with siege warfare?
Can it kick like a mule and knock the walls down?
Does it bray that loudly that defenders run off screaming?

summat else, we don't really need a projectile weapon, far more satisfying would be the thud squish of a mechanised maul or flail, even slugs can't survive a swinging pound or so of lead or iron.Comment

What I really wanted to say was Greek fire, but seeing as that was used at sea, I guess it doesn't count. Unless I try to make a terrible pun out of seage. Anyway, moving on: I've opted for something else (the pétard). But if you're thinking of making one... neither of these.
So, Onager would be my second choice. Largely because they seem to have used combustible materials in the projectiles. And who doesn't like fireworks?Comment
