  • A&E record

Whilst fitting central heating at a house we have yesterday, I managed to get a piece of plastic pipe hit me full chock on the eyeball.

After waiting 5 mins for the pain to disperse and another 5 before I was brave enough to check that the said eyeball was in the correct location, I carried on working. That lasted about 10 minutes before the pain made a trip to A&E a necessity. As I could not see to drive (and am struggling to type this now) I called a cab.

I entered A&E at 5.45pm and came out having been treated and given some eye cream at 6.20pm

Can anybody beat 35 mins for a trip to casualty????

    Quality.

    Top marks to our NHS

Not so much fun for you though, eh? Take good care of yourself!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery

"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

      Well done that hospital!!

Having been pecked in the eye by a chook, I can fully sympathise with you PW about how much n injury there really hurts.

I had trouble driving for a good few days, so for safety's sake didn't. Hope the soreness eases soon mate.

Wow you were lucky PW - I think my shortest visit was an hour, when I took a Colleague to Addenbrooks once when working in Cambridge. Can't remember what it was for though!

Hope it doesn't hurt too much, and that you make a speedy recovery

Hate having to visit A & E at the best of times but the worst has to be Friday or Saturday night. Waiting room full of thugs, drunks and (as Borris would say) oiks. You know somethings not right when there has to be a policeman on duty at the hospital to try and keep order.

How the staff cope with that every weekend I'll never know.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

              Oh Piggy!

I assume that A&E said something like "Silly boy, no permanent damage, use this to ease the pain." and this the eye is going to be fine?

We'll have to get you a safety suit, six inches thick cotton wool with one of those bomb disposal officer suits over the top. Won't get hurt then....
Mind you won't be able to do any work either.

Do you want to borrow my avatar while you recover?

Blimey that was quick Piglet, can I have the address of the hospital it'd probably be quicker to drive to there than it would be to wait in ours! Haven't had to wait in one for anything myself but O.H. has had to take his mum in a couple of times & has to wait a couple of hours at least usually.
Hope the eye is better soon, as Peter says where were your goggles & hard hat young man!

Can't beat your record PW, but feel your pain.

A few years ago I got hit in the right eye with a squash ball during a match one Sunday morning. Thankfully all was OK but the waiting in A&E scared the cr@p out of me.

Wow, 35 mins!!? You're PCT have clearly got their eye on the ball in your neck of the woods.

Thankfully I've never had the need to visit A&E myself - but have heard horror story waiting times from others who have.

Hope the oinkment works PW and you're soon back to full health dude.

On the bright side, at least it was plastic pipe & not copper.

                        Hope it heals soon.
