  • Devon - North Yorkshire and back to Devon in less than 36 hours.

Bummocks, bummocks, gutted, gutted. We left Devon just before 11 am yesterday for our trip to N Yorkshire, ****** WEATHER, accident on M 6 a 5 - 6 hour trip turned into over 9 hours, found camp site ( had called earlier ) he was able to let us have a wooden pod for the night very cute one room ( piccie later ) with electric and heater.

The rain all night was torrential and no better when we woke, decided to pack up and try and find somewhere else to stay as he didnt have anything we could have. Drove to Keighley and even passed Sarz road ( waved to you ) as we had a trailer on the car its hard to find anything and didnt know where to start looking for somewhere to stay, no internet so decided to come home.
To say I am gutted is an understatement, as well as I slipped in the wet and banged my chin, my knee and hurt my hand. All before we left the camp site.

i forgot to mention the wind

Still we are home safe and sound and I am gutted I wont make the weekend.

Thats such a shame, Jackie. At least (trying to look on the bright side ) you can thank your lucky stars you didnt have to pay in advance to camp.
We went to North Yrks in 2008 (remember there was no summer that year) and didnt manage to do anything much, only quick things between rainbreaks!

Pods are a bit small but ok for eating out and just use for sleeping, meant for 4 and there are three of us so a bit cramped but DRY. Great site and very clean would recomend it to anyone.

Dissapointmeant is an understament. I have been looking forward since it was suggested. No way we could travel that far again this week. Oh is k*******d as he did all the driving, I couldnt drive on the way back cos of my hand.

We paid a deposit and paid the remainder when we arrived plus a bit more for the pod, we did get a bit of a refund though. We have been camping in the rain and wind many times, but we couldnt even get the tent up it was that bad plus it isnt very good in the wind it would have broken.

How disappointing- thats the trouble with camping ,doesn't go well with wind and rain.
