I’ve decided to go to bed. I‘Ve had a running problem with a housing association flats building and a light for 2 years. I can’t believe it but there is no light and I can see the night sky again. The major star I can see is Venus.!

Venus is only visable just before sunrise Janie ?

Venus*is the brightest planet, and it’s now back in the east before sunrise. Each day throughout November 2018, this blazing beauty of a planet will rise sooner before sunrise and will brighten all the while. Although Venus will be a fixture of the morning sky until mid-August 2019, it’ll shine at its*brightest in late November and early December 2018,*as the morning “star.”

And of course as the morning star it is called Lucifer - the light bringer.

We have a wonderful view of the sky here.
Comes from being a long way from any major town.
Always lovely to stop and look up at the stars!

The downside can be that on a cloudy night you can see almost nothing at all...and I think I'd feel very vulnerable in a built up area without street lighting.

I also like to see the stars. It always makes me feel very small (first time for everything). I always nod to the full moon. I suppose it's because the first entry on my bucket list (if I had one) would be to stand on the Great Wall of China when the moon is full so that I can wave to her and she would see me.

And, yes I do know the Wall cannot be seen from the Moon etc but I don't care.

I wave to ISS when it passes over. It doesn't matter that they can't see me, its the thought that counts.

Maybe it's Mars that you can see, Janie.

Anyway, the night sky is a glorious sight, whatever you can see. Enjoy!

I suppose it depends on whether you like the Milky Way?
