  • Cucumers, advise needed.

I absolutely adore cucumber, in salad, in a sandwich, or just a great big chunk of it on its own. However my dearly beloved won't eat it as it gives her indigestion so she says. Can anyone offer any remedies to stop this happening.

    Many thanks

    Mikey

D'oh, look how I went and spelt cucumber!

Its normally the skin that causes indegestion or try growing a variety that is supposed to avoid this.
The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

There are varieties which claim to have bred out the undigestability factor in the skin. Burpless Tasty Green is one of these.

How did you went and spelt Cucumber then? Because you edited it out, I'll never know now!

But I agree. Cut the skin off, and that should minimalise the effects.
Unfortunately, I think Trousers enjoys the effects, which is why he doesn't cut the skin off...... luckily, he doesn't work anywhere near me when he eats his sandwiches.

I'm not sure I could edit it out wellie, it was mis-spelt in the title, I'm not sure I can alter that can I?

Thanks all for the heads up, I'll see if I can find that variety Shirl, I normally cut the skin off and take the seeds out if I'm putting it in a salad, but it still seems to have the same affect on the missus. Not me though I love em.

Thompson and Morgan sell the Burpless Tasty Green seeds. I think they can be grown outdoors too.

Champion Shirl, I've got a £10 voucher from GYO coming for T&M, excellent.

Maybe that's the answer, you could try growing some 'Cucumers' - it could be the 'b' that causes the problem

Bad crop = it's the weather's fault, Good crop = Green fingers - Hmm
