  • Coffee and tea question.

I've seen where about twice as much tea as coffee is consumed every day world wide. I'm wondering if for many people the 'coffee or tea?' question is mutually exclusive or do most people drink both depending upon circumstances?

I know that here it's more of a 'coffee or carbonated beverage?' question. There are some die-hard tea drinkers here but they are few and far between.

    Thanks!

    for me it depends.
I'm currently drinking coffee in the morning and (decaff) tea in the afternoon.

also, here it's default to have tea and coffee options at the office kitchen as free issue by employers. if you want anything else you can pay for it, but I'm not getting it for you...

My parents only drank tea and it was awful stuff, I thought. The only coffee you could buy then was this liquid coffee called "Camp". May still be for sale? That was awful too. Put me off them for life! (Should clarify - put me off tea and coffee, not my parents).

I still don't drink tea and only drink weak black coffee, no sugar. Can't stand fizzy drinks and drink red wine diluted with water.

You always knew I was "different".

EDIT - Don't like Milk either - so cocoa, hot chocolate and all those hot drinks are off the menu too.

After a long time only drinking coffee I've finally came back to tea. That's why I have five tea plant seeds
(Camelia summat or other) to sow this month

It needs to be strong and milky like I remember it in my tattie picking days at the farm!

Only ever drink tea in our house.
2 cups in the morning, one at lunch time and one after dinner.
              Coffee? Irish coffee for us.

I used to keep a filter coffee machine on the go all day, probably went through two to three jugs a day.

Now I've retired I run one jug of coffee in the morning and when it's finished I just switch to water, rather than making more coffee. No particular reason or conscious decision for the change, I just "did".

I can drink tea and will do occasionally, but prefer coffee or water.

3 mugs of tea, one of coffee, rest of the day I drink home made lemon and ginger tea either hot or cold. I drink a fair bit of water as well, but no fizzy drinks though.

I remember camp coffee, it came in bottles like HP sauce and contained chicory. I occasionaly drink filter coffee, never instant coffee. I usually drink one or two mugs of tea a day., no milk, no sugar with a slice of lemon in it.

First drink of the day is always tea. The next is a cup of really milky coffee. Thereafter, several mugs of tea over the course of the day.

Ideally, the last drink of the day would be a chai latte, not with milk but with rice cream liqueur. It's a bit like Baileys, I guess, but no milk in it and about 16 º proof. Sends me to bed with a smile.

Camp is still sold by the big supermarkets. The label has changed. Both are sitting drinking as opposed to the Indian having a tray.
Since retirement in 2007 it's been about 4 x 1pt cups white tea with sugar a day.
2 x 1pt cups strong white percolated coffee with real brown sugar a week.
During warm(ish) weather 1 G&T a day--3 fingers in pt glass topped up with tonic. This was medicinal to ward off malaria!?!
When ill hot lemon or Turkish apple tea--both instant.
Boatsman have you tried some garden mint in your tea with the lemon?

Black coffee for me, 4 or 5 a day quite strong. Drink tea only when hiking. Flask with v little milk and tea bag left in so when I get to it probably 4 hours later it's pretty strong!
