  • Cleaning out a stove

I've seen this advert for an ash can which attaches to a hoover and sooks the ashes out of the stove.
Does anyone have one ? Are they any good ?

Oh Alice, I love Coopers catalogues. They're full of things you never thought you needed. And when you really read them you realise you probably don't. I always used to clean my fireplaces with a dustpan and brush and they worked fine.

I've not tried the Coopers one. Bought very similar model from Lidl a couple years ago. The filter kept clogging during cleaning so had to keep unclipping the lid and brushing the filter clear, and the cleaning pipe was quite stiff and unwieldly. Gave it several tries but came to the conclusion it was more trouble than it's worth. Great idea in theory but not in practice. good ol' trusty pan and brush now.

I know what you mean about Coopers catalogue Rustylady, that's why I'm asking if the ash can is any good or just a gadget.

Thak you Tulip. Sounds as if it could be more of a gadget than anything else.
