Anyone going to the Chelsea flower thing Or going to be watching on the telly box ?

For the first time ever, think I'm going to watch some of it .( Very odd behaviour for SP )

SP I've only ever watched bits of it on youTube so I'll probably do the same this year.

I agree with you SP, your behaviour is very odd. I won't be watching - there's not enough real gardening for me. I mean, when do you see anything truly random at Chelsea?

I went many years ago and found a lot was too perfect if you know what I mean; however some of the display gardens you really need to see for real as there were little aspects that gave you ideas for improving your plot. Much preferred Barnsdale Gardens - so tranquil and far less people thank goodness!
I work very hard so please don't expect me to think as well!

^^^^ You are so right I found Barnsdale Gardens so very peaceful OH was in the huff with me because I took a one and a half hour detour before reaching the gardens but fifteen minutes after walking into the gardens all anger and frustration disappeared, as for Chelsea I record it so that I can watch the bits I want to see, if we sat and watched it It would be a constant "see how tidy their gardens are"
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

            Ya Know what!

I would love to go to "Barndale" maybe one day!

The "Hustle n Tustle" of "Chelsea" as never appealed, although it may be nice to go once!

Barnsdale, to me, is well worth a visit

CFS. Small Pumpkin, I keep reading this title. I make Crispy fried seaweed ala western recipe using kale sugar and salt but I can't be doing with saying crispy fried seaweed each time so I always refer to it as CFS. Sorry to digress.

I nearly went this year but the members days got booked out before I got round to it and the normal days look like mahem. There don't seem to be many gardens this year so in some ways I'm not disappointed and it's save the 70 odd quid it costs to go

I record the bbc coverage but get a bit bored after a while. I wish they'd just do two or three hours worth and do the gardens and exhibits once in detail and do them well and skip on the interviews with celebrities and other random folk.

I happened to have it on for a bit less then 10 seconds, saw Monty Don and found another channel, or the radio. Just cannot watch or listen to him.

I am finding that most programs are a lot better (worthwhile) when the person presentling them is actually trained or qualified in the topic concerned, started to realise this in several programs. A "simple" presenter just seems to lack something.

Came up concerning a different area, people said one of the team seemed out of place, then it was suggested we take a look at a program series of 4 that was in their area of expertise and they were presenting, and I have to say they were a lot better. Suspect they were just more at ease talking about a familiar area.

MD was sat there and I have to say looked either out of place or uncomfortable.

It's a big arty for me and I find most of the gardens a bit forced and unnatural. That said, I do enjoy visiting Tatton some years but that's a bit more chilled and nowhere near the price to visit

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
