i think so as long as you have accidental damage on your policy - check your docs and see what it says

Aren't cats great fun? Their playfulness and sense of mischief are why we love them so much but they do sometimes cause unintentional chaos.

If your policy is anything like mine the excess will probably be more than the cost of replacing the broken items.

Isn't it funny that we are always well insured against all eventualities until it comes to making a claim.

If you can claim, I know this next bit is dishonest but...don't tell the insurance it was the cat, they'll not pay out, plus have you got an excess? Ours is �100, so you might not gain anything if you do claim other than a higher premium next time round. I'd check it out first.

I can live without the fresh half pound of butter in the dish, the cat's dish with their supper in (also smashed) that was directly underneath but oh my lovely Cornish ware.

Would I be able to claim do you think?

I would imagine your increased premiums would far outweigh �63 damage.

I have just googled cornish ware - the blue and white ringed ones? You can get replacements - but priceless is the story about Cocoa the cat. I'm just looking on the positive side here as it would be nice to keep some cornish potters in business!

Thanks for the advice, hadn't thought about increased premiums, clever insurance people. Never had to claim before so don't know the process.

And as I can't afford to replace them, they'll have to go on the (long) list of purchases for when I ever get a job and a salary again.

At least I've got a pyrex measuring jug and I'll have to haunt the charity shops for a butter dish.
