  • Caribbean Cooking Made Easy

Starting tonight a series of 4 progs about the above! Strange that!

BBC2 8.30pm (oops missed that bit out)

Hosted by Levi Roots who was on the Dragon's Den with his reggae reggae sauce.

I don't think the Caribbean has been done by any travelling cooks in depth and possibly not since the days of Rusty Lee - for those who remember her on the breakfast progs.

Really looking forward to this - and Levi is a BIG character!

Thanks for the notice Quark Is it wrong that I want to buy the book before I've even seen a minute of the show
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things

Thanks for the heads up! The Jamaican food is a lot like the Cuban food I grew up eating. Some of the ingredients are different, though.

I wonder: Why don't they call the program "Jamaican food made easy"?

Have recorded it for later. Re the progamme name, does it only cover Jamaican or is it covering other parts of the Caribbean?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I don't know. He did show a map of the Caribbean islands, but didn't state explicitly his intentions. It seems to me that when people here in the UK says Caribbean, they really mean Jamaican.

Watching the show makes me want to crack a fresh coconut. Anybody got a spare machete?

I think its covering many parts.

Next week's prog is coming from London with his mum, so still a heavy Jamaican influence, and somewhere on the south coast - nouvelle cuisine styled?

Wonder if it could be Brighton as we have Mama Cherris Soul Food which featured on one of Gordon Ramseys turn-around progs.

I wish I'd seen this in time to see the programme - I love Caribbean food but the recipes always seem to have zillions of ingredients. Made easy would suit me fine.

Anyone know if they're going to repeat it another night?

Look out for it on i-player in the next few days - don't know if its due for repeats before next week. May appear v.late on the signed version in a few weeks time?
