  • Butternut harvest

I've just harvested a very healthy butternut crop and noticed that they seem to be trying to produce a seco d crop. The small butternut are healthy and a couple of inches big. Is it possible they will mature into edible sized squashes? I read somewhere you can eat unripe butternuts?

I'm losing both heat and light now, I have some smaller squashes that will be harvested and ripened off the plant during this week, depends on where you are as to whether you'll get any more growth.

I wouldn't bother with squash that small, it's too late in the year and too cold for them to get anywhere near big enough to ripen, even if you bring them indoors in the warm. Until they ripen they don't taste very nice IMO.
