  • Bring back Carol & Des

I know I really should give it more of a chance, but having watched the first few minutes of the new series of Countdown I don't like it. I know the game is still exactly the same, but it's the presenters that make it. OK, so I will admit to having a thing for Carol Vordermann.

Des got on my T*ts, couldn't even read an autocue properly, Carol was Ok but started to look her age! but the new girl in a tight dress looks promising, I like Jeff, he has a great sense of humour when he's on Sky sports.

Well, it is early days isn't it. I felt the new fella was trying a bit too hard with his goofy smile but it must be as disconcerting for them as it is for us. We liked Des Lyneham but Des O'Connor was dire. (I'll get you playtime dicka dumdum!!! GRRRRR) It irritated me to the extent that we started to video it so that I could fast forward the irritations (mind you, I must be getting old or something because Bruce Forsythe and Tess and Holly, and Phillip Schofield.... all have the same effect!!). Re: Carol's behind me and OH have been fascinated by it for years, it stuck out like a shelf. However, some time ago we were staying in a hotel and switched the fairly small square telly on 'cos it was tipping it down and we couldn't go out for a walk. Countdown was on and after a few minutes we both looked at each other and started to say the same thing at the same time. ie that Carol's bum had shrunk. We now realise that it must be the way our tv shows it, ie a wider screen. I did think that Rachel was more than a little hunched over, it's as if she is tall and has to squat down for the board. I like the new colours though. We'll give it a bit of a longer try and see how it goes. Carol and Twice Nightly WERE the show really and since he went it's as if they were constantly struggling to keep the momentum going.

What is it with this Carol Vordermann thing? She came to uni when I was there (to make a washing up liquid ad) and even elderly professors just turned to mush.

I like Jeff, but thats from Sky , the new girl seems okay, needs to buy new shoes - no wonder she fell over the number choice thingy (according to the papers)

I think they will settle into it. Afterall if you look back at Carols first attempts she was dire

Mind you I tend to sky plus it and fast forward, that way I can pause it, makes the numbers alot easier and I usually get the cunundrum
