Oh dear! You have to be so careful don't you. I wonder how many little old ladies they frightened into giving all their details out.

Good for you for giving them short shrift AL!

When I get any one selling etc at my door the second word is off(followed by me slamming the door shut) the first word depends on what mood I'm in.

I some times slam the door shut without saying a word.

I try to be very polite with people like this, but very firm, because I DO NOT buy on the doorstep. If they continue to get or be pushy, I usually have my eldest son come to the door. High level Kung Fu, body builder, kick boxer and built like the proverbial @#*^ house. It's amazing how it works!

I am never polite as I have two notices on my living room window next to my front door saying No collectors, canvassers or salesmen if they can't read "Tough"

I often answer the door to these people with two huge Boxer dogs, straining at their collars, frothing at the mouth with their hackles up.... they often back away quickly and I shut the door.....

I would have asked some questions, where are you from?, where's your badge?, what's your name?, thank you, goodbye.

Actually, Dexters barking is enough to put most people off - he sounds really aggressive (he isn't of course!) but he cant stand people knocking on the front door. He's a good guard dog. Ask Mo! LOL!
