  • Back To School

I have started this thread as my daughter has gone back to school today, some of us say hooray, some of us say noooooooo.

Its also hard if your child is starting school for the first time, so this is a support thread for those who are finding it hard.
They will be fine and you will be fine, we have all been there and know how you feel. It may be your first child or it may be your youngest that is off and you dont know what to do with yourself.

Have a coffee and a chat with us.

We have 'teacher training' days this week so mine go in on monday. I have 2 and both are starting new, different schools on monday (will have to be in 2 different places at once...). I'm already stressed thinking about it!

Are you saying hooray or No Jackie?

i remember robs first day at big school like it was yesterday, he kissed me at the gate, (the last time ever in public, till he was 14) then ran in without a care .... whilst 3 of us mums came back to mine for a couple of hours and ate comfort rice pudding .... one of them was pregnant and craving mine constantly lol (he only was in till lunch time the first week) .... and every now and then one of us would burst into tears ..... the kids were all fine, we were wrecks ..... now he's about to start his 3rd year at uni ..... time doesn't half fly

Both lol I love her being home and being my youngest ( 14 ) I miss her when she goes back. Its nice being able to do what I want though and not have to think about what she wants to do.

J21 of the M1 was back to it's normal ridiculous tailbacks this morning.

          Bah humbug.

My DD goes back Monday...starting a new school (junior). I also go back to work Monday and start a second job on Wednesday, (both in schools,) so its a busy and slightly apprehensive time for both of us.

My 2 boys started back yesterday. Eldest son is going to the same school but little autistic son started a new school. A moderate special school rather than the severe special school(which he attended for 3 years)

I dropped him off yesterday morning. He was fine and went on in with the teacher....I on the other hand was crying leaving the school. The classroom assistant told me not to worry, he would be fine.................BUT i knew how nervous he was and couldnt help but worry all day until i picked him up.

I am still gonna worry about him everyday as he is unpredictable and gets frustrated about certain things.....too much to write here.

I will be keeping myself busy today though to keep my mind off him (well thats the plan)

Children seldom misquote you. In fact they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said

Two of my Grandchildren who I have cared for at least one day a week for the last four years have started school today. I thought I would be relieved but, do you know, I'm not!

La Rentree also started at home today. I havent heard anything from Mme P this morning, which probably means her youngest, who has turned nocturnal over the last 8 weeks (yes kids, 8 weeks in France) was somewhat troublesome on her first day back.

I think they're trying to make up for all the snow-days that most schools lost at the beginning of the year.

I just could not understand why have been feeling a bit 'orf' these past few days. I have a huge family. Some are babes just starting playgroups others first day at 'real school'. Some venturing into 'big school' whilst other are hoping they are equipped for further education. No wonder their mums (my babies) have had their minds on other things. Wonderful thing 'growing up' as long as it doesn't mean 'growing away'.

Thats awful for you. My dad got pancreatitis last year and nearly died, so I know how serious it is. It also took ages to recover from. (He then developed cancer, but thats another story.) I hope you are better now and my thoughts with you xx
