Anyone have an Ebac dehumidifier?

We have one , have had it about 18 months. Not thought about changing the air filter . Give the filter thingy on the back a vac now and again .........

Thanks binley. May i ask which model? Googling around there are a lot of positive comments about the 2000 series, however, the few reviews of the 6000 series that i've come across have been very poor.

Its 2850E . We don't run it all year. Usually start about Oct till March/ April time. We have an old house and the walls under the windows get damp in winter . It sits on the landing as the problem is worse upstairs , seems to work well.

Does your 2850E produce a lot of noise, or is it more like a background hum? The 2850E operates at 44dB and the Ebac literature says it sounds like a refrigerator?

At 49dB the 6000 series model may be a bit noisy for us, as we'll also have it on the landing by the main bedrooms and it will need to run pretty much year-round...

we have an ebac....very good....runs on silent (which isnt silent) you can hear it but its not enough to keep you awake....a hummmm.....ours is in the bedroom and on over winter. Havent changed the filter yet in 2 years!

How much you can hear depends on how it's set. It's against the wall to youngest's room and it doesn't bother her. In fact she says it's kind of comforting.

Thanks Binley. Will go with a 2000 model i think. It runs at 46dB compared with 48dB for a 6000-series model, so is quieter.

2850e

Hi there

Just found this thread via Google. I've just bought a 2850e and, when on silent mode, it starts up quite quietly, then shakes a little as something or other appears to kick in, then buzzes a little like a fridge.

Is this normal, fellow owners? It is tolerable, but a bit annoying, too high pitched for me!

Extraction rate is great, good looks too.

Ours has just died...........lifeless, zilch, nothing

two years old so probably well out of guarantee, if I can find it......

Just searched for dehumifiers and am posting an up-date on my two Ebacs. We got them the other year and, although they do remove water (as they should) they don't half rumble and my OH said they weren't that efficient enough to prevent mould growth in our old cottage. After looking on Which? Best Buys we decided to get a Meaco 20L low energy model. It's a lot quieter, more energy-efficient and removes more water.

I got a dehumidifier as there was mould on the wall behind some furniture.

The inherited cooker hood was on recirculate. After I ducted it to the outside I was able to dispense with the dehumidifier.

It might be worth trying to find the cause of the dampness.

Our old cottage was build from local sandstone that came from the remains of Cockersand Abbey and it's like blotting paper! Having said that, it's been renovated with various forms of damp protection but has been flooded three times, the last time was in 2007. More or less dried out now but we found rain getting in between the bargeboards and guttering which has just been sorted out. Our new dehumidifier has a fan to circulate the air so we'll see how it goes.
