Yes, I have an app called 3D sun for my ipod that reports on the sun's activity which then should predict aurorae. I get email alerts from aurorawatch ; I should get my scope out and have a look more often (using a sun filter of course).

Unfortunately we're too far south to see an aurora- but the solar flairs sound good!

But if you type in 'zooniverse' you will see many 'goodies on offer' if its your thing of course. The one I am involved in is about the sun and plotting solar storms 'Study explosions on the Sun'

I find it very addictive! Sadly its not about watching the beautiful Aurors - its more about watching the stuff that makes them! No lovely colours to see, just balck and white pixelated frames of data...its still good though
