  • Any old iron?

I'm sat here at the in-laws house in Cheshire and you will never guess what I have just heard.... you won't honest you won't!

A van driving slowly down the road with voice coming out of loud-speakers shouting 'any old iron, any old iron' ...OMG so funny - haven't heard that in many many (more than I can remember) years

in days gone by scrap men used to come around the houses asking for scrap metal or anything that 'you' wanted to get rid off.

In my yoof it was carried out by a man with a horse and cart

I guess these scrap men could be thought of as the fore-runners of Freecycle

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

                      Ah...the good old days eh???

You used to be given something else in exchange - I recall my mom chose a toby jug in exchange for a pile of stuff she didn't want anymore- sort of swapsies wasn't it?

Rag and bone men- is that different?? " Raaaaag beeewwwnnnn" they called out as the horse clopped along.
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

                      Location....Normandy France
