I just had a call from a number showing as 01101 - I answered, no one there

What the heck is that sort of number?

Just got this from a pal...

      >>>>
it looks like one of those 5 digit numbers you are supposed to text to make a donation or something, although in the UK they normally start with 8. Perhaps someone hopes you'll call it back? Don't call it!

Posting in case anyone else gets it.

Could it be international? Some countries prefix with 011 before the international dialling code, so to dial the UK would be 011 44 .... So could it maybe be an American number that called you?

Snowdrop was just walking back from unit for lunch and said there was a BT man in a tent (again!) on unit - so maybe nothing more sinster than an engineer doing engineer stuff maybe

I got those a while back....apparently an automated call to find out what times you're at home...they then pass the info onto call centres.
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Have to add, that I'm too lazy to work out Binary, although I did understand it at School.

hehe brings back memories of uni dec->binary, dec->hex, oh man.. joy.

*goes to rock in the corner*

I hate numbers (and letters ).

I have had that call before, but didn't answer it. If you're not already registered with TPS - it's a good idea to do it, *if* a company adheres to it and updates their screening regularly, you shouldn't really get many annoying calls. tpsonline.org.uk I think ?

My research (typing stuff into google) suggests that the code is used in a message word subfield. Suggesting that the 01101 code has something to do with the sender's transmition registration (whatever that is) and whether their whereabouts are made known or not.
I would think that if the call had been to a mobile phone it might have appeared as a text message, in which case the code would have modified the text in some way to change the sender's details.

                              Clutching at straws though.
