    What keeps squashing my dome ?

    For the life of me I cannot find out what keeps occasionally flattening my dome (very good buy from Aldi) I suspect it's cats as they do come into the garden but whey would a cat try and climb a netted dome ? It has already snapped one set of carbon fibre rods but this time I was lucky as it wasn't broken. Something heavy has def landed on it but no evidence except flat plants, dome and some rigid plastic pea netting that a cat would have trouble flattening. And no, it isn't foxes as we don't get them in this area. I have never heard or seen one in 20 years of living here. It's also a walled garden with no access for intruders. Something happened a few weeks ago also with flowers at the front of our garden being flattened. A mystery

    I have popped it back up to show what it is.

    is it not simply a case that they are jumping down off the wall and think it is a solid structure to land on?

      That's one possibility but cats don't usually make the same mistake twice unless a different cat. Can't see any reason for them wanting to jump on it though as it is pointed. Plastic would be more likely as they like the heat from it.

                Def not pigeons. far too light to cause the carnage I found. The structure is very rigid and would need some considerable weight to flatten it.

                  Pigeons can be quite heft when they land, I've had similar netting squashed by them.
                  Other avian culprits could be Magpies or Crows.

                        So based on the evidence that prompted the suggestions you've ruled out cats, foxes, crow, magpies and pigeons.

                        There's only one possible explanation left.

                        Aliens landing tiny flying saucers on the dome. It makes sense because the dome would absorb some of the impact of landing - like an additional suspension.
