  • Stock panel arched trellis

Hiya, I’ve been searching and searching for some galvanised mesh panels that I can bend up and over into an arched tunnel. They need to be long so that I can walk under it. Any source suggestions would be much appreciated. Ideally I’d like the mesh size to be 100x100mm so that I can weave the climber through the gaps. I want to grow my squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc on it.

Am plotting and planning for next year (already!)......

    Idea came from here: https://www.eastsacfarms.com/faq

    Any clever ideas?

    Hi and welcome.
You could buy a roll of wire and cut it to the length that you require to go up and over to make an arch.
Join several "arches" together to make a longer tunnel.

Thanks, don’t think that would be strong enough without reinforcing with arched supports? Also, id like to keep it looking neat and tidy as it’s very visible from our kitchen/living room. I’ve forgotten to pick too many trombocino squashes this year. I reckon they’d bring anything too flimsy down with them!!

From what I've read those stock panels used in the States are difficult to bend into an arch.
I know what you mean about the tromboncino. Hopefully you'll join us in our Challenge next year - or even this year if you have a suitable specimen.

Oh, that’s funny! I do indeed have at least 1 suitable specimen. Will have to take a photo.... stupidest vegetable ever, am sure!

You could ask RHS Rosemoor. They have a long arched tunnel with squash growing over them... or at least they did a couple of years back. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/288441551109531817/

They did something similar at Forde abbey gardens in their greenhouse. Trained up the wall and then they hung through mesh. it looked fab but I've deleted my photos.
