Very pleased to get my first crop of Physalis Peruviana otherwise known as Inca Berries, Cape Gooseberry and Golden Berries.

Started off from seed in April on the windowsill and kept them nice and warm in homemade fizzy drink bottle cloches until the end of May when they went in the polytunnel.

Got 4 large plants with approx 50+ fruits developing on each one. Been surprisingly easy to grow, just kept potting on and watering as needed. No pests or disease.

I think they taste like a cross between gooseberry and pineapple. Looking forward to trying them mixed in with apples in a fruit crumble.

LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
