  • Do you know of any safe organic pesticides?

I think I have an insect problem.

What sort of insects, and where are they?

I have seen capapilers outdoors near vegetables, and flys and nats inside my greenhouse. I think the black round things are insect poo of some sort too.

Near vegetables? Not on them? No need to bother then. The flies and gnats aren't harming anything either.

You cannot, nor should you want to, eradicate all insect life.

For the flies and gnats in your greenhouse, get some of the old-fashioned yellow sticky flypapers and hang them up. Just be careful you don't walk into them - they are very very sticky. The flies and gnats won't actually harm your plants, though. As for the caterpillars, pick them up and squish them (or drop them into a bucket of salty water).

This was not a ordinary housefly I saw. I just want to protect vegetables from pests.

What sort of fly was it then? Flies don't usually harm veggies.

The only time insects are REALLY a problem, is when you have eradicated all of them and you then don't get any pollination.

Unless you have a major infestation of something really bad, it's best to just squish the baddies and let the goodies feast away.

I am not sure but it was small. If they do not, where do they get food from?

Of course you do. But the insects you've described aren't actually on, or harming, your vegetables ... are they?

They do - they eat them - but only if they are actually on the plant, not just nearby.

I don't know what is doing the harm.

Indeed: flies don't have teeth. They have to suck up their food, and tend to feed on wet, rotting decaying matter. Or pizza
