  • First frost dates 2020/2021... for your records

I see that some regions have already had their first frost of the 'winter'

so, I thought I'd create this thread again for your own records.

Here is last year's for comparison...

First frost for me was last night 27th September 3.3c in my GH with ice and frost in the garden.

Last year it was slightly earlier on the 4th September.

No sign of frost yet here in the southeast. Nighttime temperature hasn't dropped below 7 yet. (7.2 on the 26th).

There was no frost in our region yet, but the temperature was already approaching zero. It started to get cold somehow early this year. Last year, it seems to me, autumn was warmer. True, I did not keep records of temperatures.

Went down to 5c last night, but no frost.
It's warming up again at night now, so hopefully the first frost will be as late as it always is (mid-November, usually).

Very light frost last night. About 20% of the sweet potato leaves are blackened, as are two (only two) of the leaves on the last remaining squash plant. All other tender crops are completely untouched.

First frost here on morning of 17 October. It's usually between 17 and 21 October, so not unusual. Temps due to rise again though. So probably won't have another for the next couple of weeks. And this is becoming the pattern rather than frost every morning from here on in till mid-April, as we used to have.

There was meant to be a frost here (0c) last night, but it's hard to tell. Tender plants on the patio and at the top of the garden are untouched, and the bottom of the garden, which is usually a degree or two colder, has no tender plants by which to judge it

We had out first real frost on the 19/20.
It was the one that ended the dahlias. They are ready for the stems to be made into a mulch to keep the worst of the frost off the tubers.
The photo was taken in the 19th.
The runner beans are still green without flowers.
