  • mushrooms in my compost

Found some tall white mushrooms growing in my compost dalek. (possibly shaggy ink caps?

Shaggy Ink Cap, Lawyers Wig, Judges Wig, Coprinus comatus

The filling is a mix of kitchen veg waste, grass clippings and wood chippings. It looked a bit anaerobic in there (but didn't smell), as the grass had gone yellow but not rotted much

what might the presence of shrooms indicate?

Fungi grow on decaying vegetation. They're doing you a favour by helping your compost rot down.

damp / warm ... maybe add some more brown get some more oxygen in there -
      - fungus of all sorts is one of the primary movers n shakers in the whole composting scene.
      not really a problem, usually:

iv'e got a load of shrooms growing amongst my oinions and garlic ,iv'e not come across this type before so i'll treat them as poisonous ! I used a lot of pigeon manure on the beds they are planted in ( 2 inch thick ) so it could be spores that have come in on the peas and beans that came from abroad ,certainly not a fungus iv'e seen or can find in any of my books or online ! atb and stay safe Dal.
