Brilliant pictures of bee flies. I was being monitored too today while I was sat , obviously I was intruding. Funny things arnt they.
Blackcap I havnt seen one of those either.
Not seen a slow worm either if thats what it is.

Lots of bumblebees today while I was weeding . I actually wondered if they were looking for holes, would they?

I saw a blackcap for the first time last week. Ditto with the bird book to check it. I've never ever seen one before (and I'm no spring chicken!).

Lockdown has certainly been good for wild things.

OH sent me this from our compost heap!
Some snakes and slow worms lay their eggs in compost heaps, maybe not turn the heap over for a couple of months until they get chance to hatch?

I felt I was studied quite intensely by a Bee Fly the other day, it was funny the way it hovered around me, zooming in close then backing off and darting around me. I got the distinct impression I was in his/her space! Which to be fair I was.

Strangely my sister sent me a pic of a bee fly that she had seen in her garden the other day. I had never heard of it.

I once got some photos of a bee fly. I had to spend ages chasing it with a camera in my hand.

    I didn't realise that.

I actually thought it might be a young chaffinch but when it was on the feeder a chaffinch arrived which was much bigger than the Linnet.
    I hope it comes back.
