      I didn't realise that.

I actually thought it might be a young chaffinch but when it was on the feeder a chaffinch arrived which was much bigger than the Linnet.
      I hope it comes back.

                • I once got some photos of a bee fly. I had to spend ages chasing it with a camera in my hand.

                    • Strangely my sister sent me a pic of a bee fly that she had seen in her garden the other day. I had never heard of it.

                      • I felt I was studied quite intensely by a Bee Fly the other day, it was funny the way it hovered around me, zooming in close then backing off and darting around me. I got the distinct impression I was in his/her space! Which to be fair I was.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds!

Some snakes and slow worms lay their eggs in compost heaps, maybe not turn the heap over for a couple of months until they get chance to hatch?

I saw a blackcap for the first time last week. Ditto with the bird book to check it. I've never ever seen one before (and I'm no spring chicken!).

Lockdown has certainly been good for wild things.
