      I didn't realise that.

      I actually thought it might be a young chaffinch but when it was on the feeder a chaffinch arrived which was much bigger than the Linnet.
      I hope it comes back.

                A bright green caterpillar

                Also two of those furry bee-fly enjoying my Erysimum . Tried to take a photo but couldn't see it on pic.

                • I once got some photos of a bee fly. I had to spend ages chasing it with a camera in my hand.

                    • Strangely my sister sent me a pic of a bee fly that she had seen in her garden the other day. I had never heard of it.

                      • I felt I was studied quite intensely by a Bee Fly the other day, it was funny the way it hovered around me, zooming in close then backing off and darting around me. I got the distinct impression I was in his/her space! Which to be fair I was.

                            Some snakes and slow worms lay their eggs in compost heaps, maybe not turn the heap over for a couple of months until they get chance to hatch?

                              I saw a blackcap for the first time last week. Ditto with the bird book to check it. I've never ever seen one before (and I'm no spring chicken!).

                              • Brilliant pictures of bee flies. I was being monitored too today while I was sat , obviously I was intruding. Funny things arnt they.
                                Blackcap I havnt seen one of those either.
                                Not seen a slow worm either if thats what it is.

                                Lots of bumblebees today while I was weeding . I actually wondered if they were looking for holes, would they?
