Blanching Celery

What would be the best way to blanch my celery.I know that I have to earth it up but how can I protect the stalks?
Someone suggested corrugated papersurely this would go soggy.

i was going to suggest sticking it in boiling water, but i don't think that would have quite the desired effect lol

so i googled it ... google is your friend .... did you know you can get self blanching celery? well you do now .... oopssss too late

welcome, and for next year you can get some self blanching stuff and that's one less job you have to do

Yeah grew it last year and didn't like it.I like my celery as white as possible,tastes so much better.My favourite part is the root.

i'll give that a miss, along with cabbage and sprouts yuk, so thats 3 jobs i don't have to do lol

I heard a lot of people did not like self blanching celery, if I remember correctly, it was said to be stringy and tasteless

No expert as I grow celeriac instead....might this be an option for you if you like the root?....anyhow...Aren't you a bit early to blanch celery trenches? I wrote this a while ago.

I bought some celery plants about a month ago and just bunged them in the raised bed.......I didn't realise I would have to do all this blanching and earthing up

They seem to be growing nicely......so should I wrap them in cardboard in September then......I love celery so willing to do what it takes....a bit late for trenches though methinks

But the chances are you have self blanching celery

Oh I hope not , but then I did buy it on the spur of the moment at the garden centre.

Ah well this is my first year so it's all a big experiment
