Hello Jungle Jane short answer is i dont know, i think it has side shoots and flowers.
Ive just left them lurking in the corner of the GH. If they work they work.
Ran out of steam with the garden now.

This weekends jobs was never ending watering.
Chopping of few trees. Cleaned out the over seeded salad bed to re seed this week.
oh and also munched a couple of toms.

Have your melons got side shoots or is it just one stem? There’s information on growing melons that say to pinch the leader after five leaves to encourage side shoots. Emir that I grow seems to throw out side shoots without me doing anything. Do they only flower on side shoots,I just read that somewhere?
If there’s no side shoots I’d just pinch the tip,not worry about counting the specific number of leaves, once pinched it should begin on the sideshoot growth.

Thanks burnie and Jungle Jane really appreciate your kind words.
I think melon wise i have delicious and heart of gold. Fingers crossed i will just let them do there own thing.
I wll give the top of toms a proper prune and just leave the flowers, i dot have the time to take side shoots out each day, so its once every 3 weeks they get proper prune.

My first tom is starting to turn outside now from a tiny tim, which arent so tiny.

You’ve done amazingly in one year, looks like a great garden! What melon variety have you got? My emir aren’t flowering yet but I sowed them a bit later than everyone I think. Cucumber tendrils I just cut off & use string to tie them where I want,I’m having a bad year for cucumbers they didn’t like those cold nights we had,I’ll plant them out later next year so they survive. I’d remove some of the small side shoots in the tomato plants at the top,it looks a bit crowded & airflow could be restricted with the amount of leaves. They’ve got a lot of growth on some of the side shoots some could have flower trusses on them but small side shoots will also grow on those side shoots & they get carried away with it forgetting to produce tomatoes. Well done for growing such a huge variety & getting the garden sorted at the same time

You are doing really well, your cukes look like ridge cukes, which I used to grow outside when I lived in Leicestershire, just let them go along the ground and lift the fruits off the ground with a bit of broken plant pot to keep them clean. Melons are not easy to grow, I never have done well with them, I wouldn't leave the chillies outside if it's cool and not over night though.

Ms-T thanks for the kind words!

Nicos Yes a waterbutt was on the list, but my parents gave me old hose which ive got down the fence to make watering easier at the bottom of the garden, i think i will still get one in time and have it by the door at the bottom.
Its been lot fun seeing things grow, will defiantly organise better next year.

all cucumbers in row together, they go everywhere!
    all toms together
    all pepper together ect

    Pictures now fixed!.

Also as you can see my outside cucumbers have died off, what can i put in these now?
is worth moving a tom in there?
the grass needs a right good cut also!

EDIT also still now signs of any melons any where? are they late bloomers?

By the way...I spotted the ideal place on the path there for a waterbutt!!!...perfect!

Its all looking very good -you've clearly worked hard to achieve this!
