Chillies - Growing and Over wintering 2020

I've grown filius blue and that was around 2ft tall. Pot size does affect growth.
I rarely grow anything in less than a flower bucket.

Again it looks like it’s going to be a case of try it and see. Because I’ve grown filius blue and it would of grown in a basket. I’ve also grown AJI omnicolour and that was massive and wouldn’t of grown in a basket.

I’m not growing basket of fire this year which I usually have (surprisingly) in baskets. Not found a variety that I’m happy to grow in the baskets instead.

I didn't mean that Aji Omni would be happy in a basket, but one plant did OK in a small-ish pot or might have been pop bottle in the office the year I grew them.

Another suggestion for a basket one would be Superchilli. That was small and spreading and looked lovely with the fruits held like candles on the branches.

Has anyone bought chilli seeds from Victoriana Nursery? Any good?

Sorry - I've grown it more than once - several years in a row and it's always got to 2foot. No smaller.
Depends where you read maybe - but all of these say 2 foot.

Thanks all. I’ve got 8 seedlings growing which are the Lemon Drop variety. I sowed them and them Only realised yesterday LD/AJ was the same thing.

Just double checked and it was Jan Edition of grow your own, p59. It looks like the lemon drop seeds I ordered.

I think an experiment is in order here. I’ll plant up a couple in HB’s and see how I get on.

No it was coal/wood burning with only a small burning section so would never go all night, the new stove however does

Help with what? Do you mean for the plug plant swap? I'd love a Cheiro Roxa; the plant I grew last year didn't produce much, but it was a poor summer here.

Looking at that last link of yours, the third photo shows a small plant with an arching habit. Maybe you trained the branches of yours upright with stakes? I guess it could get to 2 foot if you did that, but left to its own devices its growth habit is more horizontal than upright, hence why I suggested it might be OK in a basket. If not then clearly your experience differed from mine & SP's so I guess there's not really a lot more to be usefully said on the subject.

Help! I planted my chilli seeds in a propagator a week ago and I have 16 popping through which was quicker than expected. Temperature is about 25 deg c and some cheap grow lights from Amazon on for 12 hours a day. The question is, what do I do now? Do I remove them to a warm windowsill? Ideally I would like to put some tomatoes in the propagator now, but the health of my chillies is more important. Chillies are my new hobby so learning on the go. I am fascinated by your comments, it’s like a different language.

Get them out of the propagator as soon as they appear. I usually go from propagator into 3” pot ( one seedling per pot & warmed compost). Onto a window sill with a grow light.
