  • Genuine UK banana shallot seed

In September 2004 I bought some Normandy grown banana shallots whilst on holliday in Francais.

They were planted in March this year on my allotment with the aim of harvesting a crop of seed. This was very sucessful indeed with lots of seed being harvested. I have distributed most of the seed and have just sown mine but still have some spare.

If anybody would like a pinch then Pm me your address. There isnt much left so it is on a first come first served basis.

Bear in mind that a farmer was in the gardening press selling it at £5 for 20 seeds this year.

Would love to try some. Are you looking for anything special in return? I have a lot of seeds that I can swap for so fire away!

I've sown some seeds I bought as Hungarian 'Ham' onions (cos they're in the shape of a ham, I think?)

I'm just wondering whether they are said shallots, as the packet is written in Hungarian which may as well be Clingon as far as I am concerned!

            Don't suppose you've got a photo PW?

            Or are they Banana shaped?

They are like a long (4-7") banana shaped onion, but with a fabulous taste and are highly sought after for cooking.
