Collection and storage?

I collected nasturtium seeds last year and let them dry in the kitchen. The % germination was very low, 1 in 10? What did I do wrong and more importantly how can I do it right this year?

Mine self seeded, so I'm guessing they don't need too much drying, I put a hanging basket on the edge of one of the raised beds and I now have them growing amongst the carrots.

Nasturtiums are verging on being a weed.

I suppose it depends on location, soil, and so on; but we don't do anything except pull up the copious numbers that pop up all over place - just leaving the ones we want.

So, to answer the question: I would be inclined to put some fresh seeds in a bed outside now then when the plants appear in spring move them to to where they are needed.

I find self seeded ones do better than those seeds I’ve specially saved, not sure why. So I do like QW and then re home them next year.

And yet when you buy seeds they have a high germination rate?
