I was rummaging for something else on the bookshelf and came across the book. Will get it out today. Am keen to grow chives and garlic chives this year. On your list, I'll go with chervil. Bit early for basil yet for us. Thyme and rosemary grow wild. And parsley and sage I'll cheat and buy plants.

Just to say, my Rosemary has been in blossom for the last few weeks.
Its living outdoors in a large container on the back steps.

I don't see saffron mentioned here yet - popped some new bulbs in two weeks ago and am already harvesting from those flowers not destroyed by the manic rain.

Good timing. Just yesterday I was trying to find the book I bought. Looks like I don't need it - just this thread!

Sowed a load of herbs about two weeks ago.
So far chives, fennel, thyme, flat leaf parsley, cumin and mustard have germinated.

    I've started!!
Rummaged through my old seeds and decided on this lot as they're all past their sow-by dates.

Sown 11 pots (all different) - now in prop.

    Thyme - Common/Orange scented/Broad leaf
    Basil - Thai/Red Rubin/Lemon/Mammoth
    Chervil - Curled
    Parsley - Paravert/Moss curled

Also have some mint cuttings rooting in water.

^In my case, don't sow till May, nip off the tops when about 15 cm tall so the plants bush out, and keep pinching off the flowering tips. And plant out far more than you think you'll need.

Actually, that looks like a good plan for coriander, come to think of it. I never do well with that.

I was a bit pants last year but there is a border in the veg patch I want to revamp and make a dedicated herb patch. Bought some winter savory seeds as my plants were lost last year as well So I will be keeping an eye on this thread

For those of you feeling herby what is the knack for basil? I don't recall ever successfully growing the stuff.

I was thinking of fishing the book out to have a look just the other day. I've bought some savory seeds. Made a mistake, got the pungent one, but never mind. Apparently it's good for deterring pests. Might try some mixed with marigolds in among the brassicas. Double confusion!

Bit too early for sowing here for me just yet. Give it a few more weeks before I start.

Burnie, I have chamomile growing in my garden and I never cut it back.
It looks dead in winter but always comes back.

I planted some 'erbs in between the crazy paving near my greenhouse, the Chamomile looks well flattened by the winter, do I cut it back at all?

It's more rock than soil! So reasonably well draining. It's raised beach and very acidic. It's not doing that well in pots of MPC to be honest. They need repotting but still !
