  • Wave petunias

Was watch in G.W and there was an article about a display that a man puts up in
I think it was Loughborough and he said he uses tidal wave petunias, is there someone on the Vine who has grown these petunias and do you really not need to dead head them?

Hi Rary, I saw this programme too and had exactly the same thought! I didn't catch the name of the petunias, so thanks for that. Non-dead-heading petunias would be well worth growing.
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

My mum would love these. I've never heard of them. I've Googled for them and they seem to be an American thing. Can you get them in the UK?

Julia lives in Texas so we don't know how relevant her post is to the UK.

I found this for uk seeds? Wave seems to be an American hybrid but I don’t know much about it?

^Thanks, Jungle Jane. My mum loves petunias but is struggling with mobility and bending down. These would be just the job for her, especially for hanging baskets. Brilliant.

Too late now to buy these plants but come next spring wave petunia plug plants will be widely available online or otherwise. If you fancy growing them from seed - the seeds are widely available too in lots of colours.

You can buy the seeds from Premier seeds and also TandM if you buy them just now in GCs you may get them at a reduced price
