  • Run advice needed

I am now starting to build a run for a chicken shed i have built .

My question is should i have front , back and sides covered with wire or front and and side covered with wire and the back made out of wood ? .
I have white perspex sheets for the top of the run which will end up about 10ft long x 6ft wide and 5ft high we have had a problem with rats in our back gardens quite often .
I have enough wire to do all the way round also i plenty of 4x1 inch wood to clad the back if needed .
The front of the run will be east facing with the side facing north
What would you recommend for me to do ?

I'd protect the run with the timber on the side where the strongest cold wind comes from most often, which for me would be the east side.

As far as rats go. Every winter they find some way in. Last few years have been putting a length of pipe about 2 inch diameter [downpipe] and about 3 feet long. Sit it on a couple of bricks to keep the rain out and weigh it down with more bricks. Place a small bag of rat and mice poison a few inches up the pipe. when the bags get left your problem is solved.
      Bob.
